The island Lolland is situated in the center of the Baltic Sea Region and the European Community with a business structure consisting of small and medium sized companies as well as large internationally orientated enterprises.

There is low unemployment at Lolland, with more than 17,000 jobs spread over 2,000 companies. The Fehmarn Belt Project is expected to create at least an additional 5,000 extra jobs until 2029. In addition, there are up to 90,000 jobs within one hour´s drive to cities like Nykøbing Falster, Vordingborg, Næstved and Faxe at Zealand.
